Better Than Perfect

Better Than Perfect

A Poem by Sarah

Better than Perfect

Here I am,

basking in the sun.

Warmth envelops me,

a breeze blows through my hair,

across my skin.

The sound of birds

all around me.

-

A perfect day.

And yet,

it could be better.

-

I laugh,

I smile,

but it's all a good act.

Because deep down,

I'm gone.

Thinking.

Wondering.

Wishing.

-

The sun is so bright

and comforting.

The breeze is so pure

and refreshing.

I could sit for hours.

-

It's a perfect day.

And yet,

it could be better.

-

Would you believe me if I told you,

that what was on my mind-

and had been for weeks-

was you?

-

Would you care if I said

that I'd been thinking,

wondering,

and wishing,

about you?

-

I've never fallen this heavily,

never been lost so completely.

It’s frightening.

-

I've lost control of my heart.

It belongs to you now.

Will you keep it?

Or will you break it?

The choice is yours.

-

All I can say is,

my day was perfect.

But you could have made it

even better.

Nice flow of thoughts and I like the description of the desire of someone special. The poem had good description and I like the positive feel and hope in the words. A very good ending to a excellent poem.
