A Sleepless Slumber.

A Sleepless Slumber.

A Poem by Savannah Brown
"

Sometimes dreams are better than reality and maybe sometimes reality is a whole lot better than a dream when you're not sleepwalking through.

"

I've been searching for you in my sleep.

My flailing arm's seek no one, but you.

And when it's too late at night for anyone to make a peep,

that's when I dream of your smile, the one I knew to be true.

I wake to find you still asleep beside me,

cocooned in a love that we're holding onto for dear life.

The silence is deafening, but it beats the shout's and

walking away mumbles of our recurring strife.

I can see the morning sun lurking behind the curtain's,

as it waits for our world to wake.

And all I want is to lay here beside you, while you're so deep asleep and hold you until we've passed the point of where our bodies might begin to ache.

Where you still roll over and hold me so tight and

where you breathe in contently when placing your nose in the crook of my neck.

And then it all happens to soon;

I soak up the last minutes of what we use to be and dread the moment that your alarm sound's.

You roll out of bed, and our problem's from yesterday,

just have no bound's.

You place your three kisses upon my lonely lip's as i pretend to sleep.

You say "Bye baby." and mumble another "I'll see you later."

It's only when you reach the door that I hear when "I love you" passes your lip's and those three word's and the sadness I hear lingering there,

send an aching pain straight through to my core.

And it's only when I know you've left that I allow myself to

whisper a defeated and tear laced

"But baby, I love you more."
