Estranged

Estranged

A Poem by SavyNess
"

so unfamiliar

"
How foreign to be in the same room but not know what to do
Suddenly I'm stumbling over my own words and speaking in circles
As if I don't know anything about you and I am clueless how to keep conversation
I look at the ceiling and the walls
I look at my nails and my phone
Something fix this; save us
Suddenly there is distance while we share a space
and there's millions of miles between our eyes ,for they never meet
My hands fumble and patter
twisting my hair, spinning my ring,
tracing my eyebrows with my thumb,
anything to occupy them
The moment the silence breaks through,
it is then I swear I hear your heartbeat or maybe even mine because of how hard it beats for you
It is then, I feel lost looking for your reassurance
and my hands, they are purely estranged
looking to weave themselves into yours
