Memories of Bohicon, Benin

Memories of Bohicon, Benin

A Poem by Eclectic Ichthys
"

Voodoo beats from the Ivory Coast

"

All is calm and all is clear

the mists are floating by

village life begins to rustle,

woken by the rooster's cry

the sun is rising, orange as ever

engines revving, ceasing never

once set in motion, all commotion.

It's another African sunrise, in another African town

I get the feeling that I've been here before,

Just a feeling that keeps coming around.

Days are hot, the sun beats down

red paths beneath the haze

market life is full of spice

you'll wander through the maze

colors flash, hear the sizzle

frying meat, cook it sweet

bustle, shove: humanity's love.

It's another African mid-day, in another African town

I get the feeling that I've been here before,

Just a feeling that keeps coming around.

The heat burns off, the day is spent

the palm trees sway and sigh

the butter sun begins descent,

a warm breeze flutters by

the goats take refuge in the gloom

the blooming stars and sliver moon

replace the sun, night's begun.

It's another African sunset, in another African town

I get the feeling that I've been here before,

Just a feeling that keeps coming around.
