As A Child I Ate Paint Chips
By Jessica Gleason

Oh tasty paint chips!
Metallic, flaky and more than likely
                                    poison
                                    --hardly a deterrent.

                        Delightfully mischievous
to the taste, perhaps this is why mother
has forbidden me to indulge! O tasty

                                                paint chips! Sitting perfectly
                                                            chilled and lying in wait
on the windowsill buffet. No one else

                        has savored you
since we started our nefarious affair
                                    those few days ago.

                                    No one. You’re mine.
