Lasting Tears will Fall

Lasting Tears will Fall

A Poem by Samantha Lay
"

My childhood cat passed away, the last physical remnants I had left of his mother.

"
Lasting tears will fall
Forever in my heart
I can not simply say a word that represents my love for you
Your mother was my best friend
Looking out for me, watching with her soulful eyes
Washing away all my pain
No matter what meow... I knew her through and through
Such happiness can be described as pure love for you
Holding dear the eternal breath for which still takes control of the warmth within
Protecting always
Staying true
Giving me faith in all of you.
Now you are passing to a new life of love
She waits for you patiently, your mothers toughest job
I sit beside you telling you the words
Words of all emotions "it's ok to leave your body for I know you must go"
Never would I let you suffer or not know my heart.
I'll always love both of you
With tears all the same
The softest fur runs along my hand with gentle strokes of grief
I fall away to an unknown place begging you "please don't leave"
Too late, the time arises were you depart this world
One last breath frees your pain and I know it must be true
I will see you again my old friend and hold you close for as long as I can
For now simply enjoy the land for which you run free.
