On Humbled Knee We Seek Flight to Flee. . .

On Humbled Knee We Seek Flight to Flee. . .

A Poem by Seah
"

When depressed . . . we are comforted

"
"For he has not despised nor loathed the suffering of the oppressed one;

He has not hidden his face from him.

When he cried to him for help,
he heard."
Ps. 22:24.

***

"Show me favor, O Jehovah, for I am growing weak.
Heal me, O Jehovah, for my bones are shaking."
Ps. 6:2.

***

In this day
many
these words inner speak.

Seeking comfort from
'slavery to sin and death'; sold:

"Look! I was born guilty of error,
And my mother conceived me in sin."
Ps. 51:5.

Yes,
from birth in sin
we are swathed completely.

Our outward skins confining us to social, racial inequalities.

Injustices.

As done to many in global societies...

Also, yes,
our thoughts within
perverted spin:

"The calamities surrounding me are too many to count.
So many of my errors overwhelm me that I cannot see my way;

They are more numerous than the hairs of my head,

And I have lost heart."
Ps. 40:12.

***

"Show me favor, O God,
according to your loyal love.

Blot out my transgressions according to your great mercy.

Thoroughly wash me from my error,
And cleanse me from my sin.

For I am well-aware of my transgressions,
And my sin is always before me.

Against you"you above all"I have sinned;

What is bad in your eyes I have done.

Therefore,
you are righteous when you speak,

You are right in your judgment."
Ps. 51:1-4.

***

We must not pretend.

Not as a caterpillar cocooned in silk
we are spun.

Errors daily
in mornings begun

leave us encased
under sinking moons

our lives erased...

Though,

as a butterfly
can be our end.

For:

"Look!
You find pleasure in truth in the inner person;

Teach my innermost self true wisdom.

Purify me from my sin with hyssop,
so that I will be clean;

Wash me, so that I will be whiter than snow."
Ps. 51:6, 7.

***

“Come, now,
and let us set matters straight between us,”
says Jehovah.

“Though your sins are like scarlet,
They will be made as white as snow;

Though they are as red as crimson cloth,
They will become like wool."
Isa. 1:18.

***

"Turn your face away from my sins,
And wipe away all my errors.

Create in me a pure heart, O God,
And put within me a new spirit,

a steadfast one.

Do not cast me out from your presence;
And do not take your holy spirit away from me.

Restore to me the joy of your salvation;
Stir within me a willingness to obey you.

I will teach transgressors your ways,
So that sinners will return to you."
Ps. 51:9-13.

For,

"Finally I confessed my sin to you;
I did not cover my error.

I said:
“I will confess my transgressions to Jehovah.”

And you pardoned the error of my sins."
Ps. 32:5.

***

"The sacrifices pleasing to God are a broken spirit;

A heart broken and crushed, O God,
you will not reject."
Ps. 51:17.

***

"The one covering over his transgressions will not succeed,

But whoever confesses and abandons them will be shown mercy."
Prov. 28:13.
