A Wish For My Grandchildren.

A Wish For My Grandchildren.

A Poem by Bryan Sefton

I wish you life on a faulty clock
So that, just as a year is about to drop
There is the click of a slipping cog
And the year leaps back so that last year's frog
Is this year's tadpole, new tail whipping
And you, my precious children, skipping
To a summer that to me is past and old
But to you a promise about to unfold
Oh hold it, hold it! Hold the day
Don't let a minute of it slip away
Lie in the grass gazing out to sea
And let that sea be eternity

Thanks Ranger.
Yes, Bryan... our Grandchildren need time to Dream and look out to the Sea. No need to learn about Adult things until at least eleven or twelve... and then let the Parents choose how to present the Facts at Home... the way it has been done for Centuries. Of course we need to tell the Children.... "No one touches you unless you are in a Hospital for Medical reasons." Your Poetry is Timely... and well written. gently, Pat

All the horrors of life were hidden. Now television forces it on them and childhood is cut short.

That would be a perfect time for me too, Julie.
As we age the time clock speeds up. How precious life becomes. When we are young the time slips through our fingers. This is a lovely poem Bryan. A good Sunday morning to you.

Thank you Chris. We can't stop time, but turning it back would be acceptable don't you think?

Thank you Allen. Take every day as it comes and enjoy them
Good morning Bryan,
Yes, as we are getting older we realise more and more how very precious time is...
We cherish our days...well, that is if we acknowledge that it is so important to do so.
If we are lucky and we have plans to go on adventures.. short or long then that is fabulous....
If we are happy in a meaningful relationship...that is amazing...if we have taken good care of yourself and are healthy... that is perfect...and, I find this part to be on the top of my list... and, we do what gives us pleasure.
Hope your grandchildren read and enjoy your poem.
I certainly enjoyed it!!
