Breaking Waves.

Breaking Waves.

A Poem by Bryan Sefton
"

I read a depressive persons letter and wrote this. She lived it. I could only imagine it.

"
They break like waves over the oceans rocks.
The rocks where I cling. Alone. Afraid.
When you turn to someone you turn full circle.
There's no one there.
The rocks are bare.
The seagulls laugh at you.
S**t on you.
Looking down. Always looking down!

They break again. Pulling at me.
Clinging fingers drag me down
I must hang on. Just hang on!
Call for help? No!
I wouldn't give them the pleasure!.
See? I know them.
They are the waves.
They want me down.
I've got you taped!
Seagulls! Bloody seagulls!
What did I ever do to you?

The rocks break. See?
Just crumble away.
My fingers grow tired.
My mind just wants to be still.
Sleep, when did I last close my eyes?
When did I last close my mind!
When did I last give in to -----?
Seagulls!! Bloody seagulls!!

Everything falls apart.
My fingers bleed
Seagulls scream.
Sleep. When did I last close my eyes?
