True love

True love

A Poem by Rivaxorus
"

"There's an urban legend that started in China, where a red string would be tied around men and woman's pinkies those whose strings were connected were destined to be soul mates."

"
I've  noticed this
For a long time now
How we  move
Just like magnets

Many of our friends
Have been left behind
When we have each other
And that's where the world stands

We are so different
But so alike
You might be only human
But I am simply half

Half of what I could be
Supporting
Loving
And just as you are

I can refer to it as love
Our red string has always been there
Pulling us back together
No matter how much we hate each other

So we stand against time
Strong and head first
We lean into each other
Embracingly

First, I'd like to say I'm confused how these red strings could connect, but that is moot with regards to your poem. Your subject matter stays within your usual fare, and is as touching in its honesty as it is, in its sentiment. One thing though, I must say. The image of magnets repelling and attracting is a beautiful representation, but to say that one moves just like magnets, is a little deceiving, because it's not actually the magnets moving but that which it attracts and repels. This is just me nitpicking, your poem is very thoughtful and passionate.

A good take on this legend. The string chooses us, and it is not always easy. I would suggest an edit on that last word - "embracing", I think, would be a bit more powerful.

Lovely write about soul mates. I think there is a misconception that our soul mates have to be perfect in every way. I think the differences are what draws us closer together. well done.
