My teacher marked me absent
Surely it must be a mistake, as I was present I ensured to tell her of the mistake And to avoid the event A day had willfully passed I smiled and engaged My happy self to pass However, my teacher marked me absent Which had challenged me with the class I had found it quite strange: being mocked by the mass I told my mother of the teacher's doings She had assured they'd be fixed I grabbed my satchel and slurred by goings The day looking oddly mixed The next day, my teacher marked me absent And I questioned why For this was no longer funny And I will not be prosecuted for lies I shouted "why do you mark me absent?" But I received no response I looked out at the vicious class But hadn't received a single taunt I told my mother again- -of my teacher's mistakes But she ignored my words As she prepared a vanilla cake Feeling insecure, I looked at the walls And there I saw my memorial "For he who passed last fall."
