Unravelling

Unravelling

A Poem by Seren

So soft, so gentle
lips cradling words like gems.
Like a father, a brother,
a lover…
Feelings clash but peace abounds
whenever the boyish gaze catches mine.
So innocently spoken
yet somehow yearning,
like my strange feelings,
unravelling inside me like a yarn.

A calm in the storm,
unexpected yet welcome,
my listless eyes are alight with unspoken hope
of a fleeting touch
or glance
to cast away the murky clouds,
and let in the dappled sunlight once more.
My mind sits beside a sunny riverbank
whilst you talk.

Take me to another place,
another time.
Soothe the fever,
unravel the pain,
and reach inside my wounded breast
to touch my heart,
which calcifies by the minute.
The scent of peace
drifts on a lazy breeze,
and I have never been so grateful
to unravel again.
