A Poem by Seriana

Impression

For a moment,

there was a flicker of something familiar,

something woven in the cheesy smile,

something sacred and warm.

For a moment…after all,

It was only a picture.

I felt the flow anyway,

the last picture I’d ever receive.

The handsome face behind dark glasses,

hiding tiny feet of crows

With relaxed confidence sat he,

goofy and cheerful, just for me.

I knew it…He knew it,

The last picture I’d ever receive.

The ifs, whys and why nots…

long since disappeared.

But the smile still stares back at me,

boring through my chest

as the silence drones on and lengthens….

It’ll stretch further yet,

so thin its fibers become invisible.

But I can still see,

the last picture I’d ever receive.

Once, there were two smiles of cheese

creating the best of that visual memory.

Only one remains,

Now,

And I’m not sure he sees…

The last picture I’ll ever receive.
