Dissolution

Dissolution

A Poem by Seriana

Dissolution

As the hourglass drains

and everything fades

to

black

The horizon ascends

deep within time’s cavern

threatening yesterday’s present

and I cannot help but clutch that before me

present and tangible

inhaling the scent of the moment

dripping with evaporating memories

for in tomorrow’s today

it will have vanished

a vapor on the breeze

carried to the far distant lands of my mind

but I don’t want to forget the placid inflections

the vital rhythm

the sanguine reminiscence…

So I stare

and cry

and hold my breath

and plead, silently

for a grain of sand more

And whilst my eyes are tightly closed

to keep shut the secret sight,

the sweet raptured light

I cling to the phantom specter

and lace my memory

with ephemeral toxicity

And whence the dust billows and blows anew

the scent

lingering from afar

will flow across the canvas of my mind

coloring its way through the senses of time

depositing once again

the delicate fraction of a moment

in the eternal abyss of my mind

BEAUTIFULLY PENNED. you are a true poet to me. Not a "trying to be a poet,,,or geting there" but one who could be published. Every word you use here is so effortless, and goes well as a whole with the message you are conveying. Wonderful!!

Ok, this is very deep I hope I got it right :P :

You shape your emotions very into words, when concerning the continuous and unpleasing flow of life.

Your depth is magnificent, beautiful and profound! Your words are brushed on with the most delicate strokes, touches of paint so poignant. Amazing...

God, I am there with those feelings. Memories are great, but it is so hard to let go of the present to turn them into beautiful memories. And, then there are times when memories are the good which makes the present tolerable.

Hm, this one really hit me, Seriana. It strikes notes with me that are raw and sensitive at this very moment. You capture emotion perfectly in your writing, but with it you capture part of the human soul which brings to life the story you are telling.

Memories intermingle with one another providing a moving screen of cambric, colored into a rainbow of light.

You've written a nice, revealing poem...

I agree with Chad wholeheartedly, and I would add that memories are the only thing we get to take with us.
Time is fleeting...
