As We March On

As We March On

A Poem by [Mackenzie]

Blood pouring from broken bodies
Trampled under our feet
As we march on.

Rifles resting on proud shoulders
Lifted; Aimed;
Fired.

Another bright spark falls in our wake
As we march on
Into the iron grip of war.

... wow ... this is one of those few works of poetic excellence that reads as brilliant backwards ... (line 9 to line 1) ... this echoes ... this resounds ... this reverberates ... "another bright spark falls in our wake" ... i think often of the countless precious gems we've lost to war and you bring that to the fore beautifully and ... of course ... unbelievably powerfully ... "into the iron grip of war" ... what an amazing expression ... and so true ... it's a world in the clutches of war ... if only peace talks actually led to peace ... :( ...
