My grandma once told me
it was not okay to cry.
The passing of tears
shall never go by.
The sounding of sobs
should never be heard-
silence as the shepherd
rounds up his herd.

But every word was wrong,
every syllable misplaced.
Then I learned that only
she was defaced.
