American Dream

American Dream

A Poem by Tonya

Why am I caged up like this?

This made my life one big mess.

I'm an animal that should be free,

Why is it so hard for them to see?

Why must I be controlled?

No one knows 'til the truth be told.

I live a hard life, but I still dream.

Of being free, living by the sea.

Why can't they see?

That my life now isn't what it's supposed to be?

Why are they so blind?

They need to remove the fog from their eyes.

I yearn to be free

To live my life as I please

But I'm forced to live this life

To be as what's expected of me

But that's not the real me

The real me wants to be free

That's my,

AMERICAN DREAM!!!
