Misguided Thoughts

Misguided Thoughts

A Poem by Shadowdragon
"

n/a

"

Bright and iridescent wings

Quiver silently on broken dreams

You feel them falter

She drops

Faint hurt crosses her expression

Weren't you supposed to be there?

Didn't you promise eternity?

Forever?

Fate has other plans for you

Like some twisted and cruel joke

You sigh in relief as a passing cloud breaks her fall

You can go back to what matters

What eats all of your time

Is that really what life is?

Do those coins jingling in your pocket ring true?

She seems happy resting on that cloud

Her expression brings warmth to your heart

Even as your limbs begin to grow cold

But you can work through it

You'll take care of her forever

Isn't that what love is?
