Once Upon a Time...

Once Upon a Time...

A Poem by Miss Misfit
"

This poem tells the story of a little girl and her struggles as she grows up to face the real world.

"
Once upon a time, there was a little girl...

She had crystal blue eyes, and hair the color of white gold.

This little girl almost always wore bright colored shirts and jean shorts.

All she ever wanted, was to grow up and live happily ever after.

Her mom was always there, and dad was home by 5.

She dreamed of growing old, and playing with the grandkids just like her grandma always did.

Her best friend lived right next door, and they always had time to play.

She lived a happy existence, and couldn’t ask for anything more.

Once upon a time, there was a little girl...

She had ocean blue eyes, and hair the color of gold.

This little girl almost always wore dark brown or blue shirts and blue jeans.

All she ever wanted, was for her new friends to smile at her.

Her mom was always asleep, and dad was home by 10.

She dreamed of growing up, and meeting a nice guy who was home early, and smiled at her.

Her best friend lived in a trailer across town, and she never went over.

She lived an empty existence, and longed for simple smiles again.

Once upon a time, there was a little girl...

She had green blue eyes and dirty blond hair.

This little girl almost always wore the same old tees and faded ripped jeans.

All she ever wanted, was a friend.

Her mom was very distant, and dad wasn’t home till midnight.

She dreamed of a school where the kids were happy, and she fit in.

She didn’t have a best friend, and never went outside.

She lived a lonely existence, and only longed for friendship again.

Once upon a time, there was a young girl....

She had dark blue eyes, hidden behind large glasses, and dark blond hair.

This girl always wore dark, long sleeved tees and black jeans.

All she ever wanted, was for someone to tell her that they cared.

Her mom never talked, and dad was never home.

She dreamed of a place where she could be free, without any pain or worry.

Her best friend cut himself, and she caught on quickly.

She lived a painful existence, and just wanted someone to care.

Once upon a time, there was a not-so-little girl...

She had short, dark blond hair that always covered one eye.

This young girl, always wore black clothing and long sleeved sweaters, even when it was hot.

All she ever wanted, was to be happy again, to run away and never look back.

Her mom yelled at her a lot, and dad wasn’t home to say anything about it.

She dreamed of a place where she didn’t exist, and everything was better again.

Her best friend killed himself, and didn’t even say goodbye.

She lived a tortured existence, and just wanted it to end already.

Once upon a time, there was a little girl...

She had blond hair and very pale skin.

She was dressed in white, motionless, the casket open for everyone to see.

Her mom cried herself to sleep, and dad left mom all alone.

She was finally with her best friend again, the pain of her parents’ suffering heavy on her shoulders..

Her best friend held her tight as she watched her parents grieve.

She died scarred, and broken, and now she was free.

With a friend,

Someone who cared,

Someone who smiled at her,

Someone who ran away with her,

Someone who never looked back,

Someone who finally let her live happily ever after.
