Requiem

Requiem

A Poem by shannon_writes
"

Until I scrape together some more fiction stories, here's another poem.

"
You've claimed apathy
so often you sound like a recording,
and even though it's untold agony,
watching his eyes light up is just so rewarding.

They're green,
like spring's first leaf,
flecked with the purest blue between,
burying untold emotion beneath.

He's difficult to read,
but when he smiles,
the weight recedes
at least for a while.

Taylor Swift's on replay,
until you build up the courage to say
I love you.

Interesting. This a curious read, I like the commonality given to apathetic expressions.

I kept reading and re-reading this poem, and the high point for me is when you hit the 2nd stanza, it's just the 6th and 7th lines are so amazing it radiates up and down the entire piece, it's simple and well-stated and has a lot of artistry.

This is really nice. I appreciate the vulnerability in your words.
