Passing

Passing

A Poem by Sharleen Boaden

And the sun went out
And the sky turned grey
The day you left this life
Just another day, the same...
but not.

People walking and shopping and talking and eating
Birds singing and the rain raining
The world spinning and waves raging...

But you weren't there.
Which felt odd because it all should have stopped
The walking, the shopping, the raining, the birds...
It all should have stopped to say a goodbye
To finally salute you, to bid you farewell
To pause for a while, to remember your smile

...but it did not.

Wow, I loved this read. It encapsulates how I felt when my younger brother took his own life. This poem brought tears to my eyes.
