THE POISONED HEART

THE POISONED HEART

A Poem by TerryDarcy-Ryan akaSheerTerror
"

" temptation poisons the apple hope devoures "

"

the serrated edge of steel

forcing the cut deeper still

the sharp insisting texture

skipping a beat severe

the first words spoken

pulled into the softness of a whisper

fallen in a blinding bliss

denial names romance in a kiss

the ordinary dance to a game of chance

promise a fearful secret the hand on a veil

temptation poisons the apple hope devoures

a nudge drives the push provoking passion ‘s demand

sabotage or the pendulum of hopeful momentum

surrender incites the mystery in beautiful

sleeping brutality stretches and stands

a move into a two step warning

the clack of metal a ping to timbre

shells are chambered

a slow pull screams with intent

the sound of a round finds a target

stirring the very marrow deep inside

pulling like a magnet no offer to compromise

damned holds this place of wrath

a tongue to the cheek

down to the last shells

hatred is unbending and ironclad

decomposing the heart to still

the serrated edge of steel

Powerful, direct and hard words written. You made the reader feel and understand the words. This is my kind of poetry. Always a pleasure to read your words and your thoughts. A outstanding poem.

very deep, powerful imagery in the knitting of words here. almost too clever. this one cutting like "the serrated edge of steel." can hear the round being chambered. lock and load comes to mind as conjured by your description. shot through the heart perhaps. i feel a conflicted tug of war with hate leaking out. many great lines. gripping title.
