PAUPER ANGUSTUM

PAUPER ANGUSTUM

A Poem by TerryDarcy-Ryan akaSheerTerror
"

"as the fool dances, a fool circle "

"

a man of means and meager will

perched upon his window sill

playing vague for the promise of power

sings a song of a beg for the borrow

last chance, take the lead or follow

deny the headline buried shallow

a wink for here today gone tomorrow

patronize our cornerstone

lie to cover a backbone

stand upon the working hands

a great pretender in command

the artistic gesture moves the band

a flaunt for the sake of humanity

wearing jaded to swing on a strand

depravity seeks a bended knee

prosperity stands with hypocrisy

all to shake down a charity

inspired food for the fray

feed the mighty, deny the small

the future strums for us all

as the fool dances, a fool circle

Outstanding words and thoughts shared my friend. Many people following the fools today. I tell people. Listen, research and know. People hear , what they want. I enjoyed these words.

Yes! the rich will get richer and the poor will be poorer "feed the mighty, deny the small". The unfairness of things that happens in life that goes seemingly unchanged through the ages, this poem speaks to that perfectly. love it

This maybe inspired largely by a man living in the white house a great pretender. Thank you

I see, makes it all the more interestng
While I as always, am impressed by your word choice, flow, and imagery,
I was really taken with a singular line.
"patronize our cornerstone".
I love everything about that.

This piece, at times, reads like song.
Impressive, for such serious subject matter.

This is really good! I would be careful about omitting commas, especially in the first stanza, but other than that, good job.

cool write. awesome imagery and wording with your usual smooth, intense flow. as always, i love the way you knit words together giving such strong imagery. many meanings contained in your words. had to look up the latin angustum (strait, extremities, crisis) - what a deep, encompassing word. everything comes out in the wash. what goes around, comes around. fools dance too. we all play the fool and dance to our own drummer. we each dream and play our parts in life's play - in the name of survival. very philosophical. the thoughts contained in this are very Thoreau-like to me, but that's me. another great one ... :)

Great write, filled with words that seem to describe the world we live in today. Struggling just to survive to even breathe the air for free ;-
