Unexpected & Unbelievable

Unexpected & Unbelievable

A Poem by Shelby Baker
"

How things can change in your life and change how you see things

"
To handle unexpected gifts
Is always unbelievable
To handle unexpected horrors
Is always unbelievable

To learn that you're three months pregnant
Is a freighting and unexpected gift
Knowing that theirs a gift on its way

That you’ll be raising a child fatherless
That shall  grow like a flower In a garden
Need to be feed and taken cared of
cherished and loved

You’ll fear the worse
But you’ll get control back
And live your life
In new  eyes

To learn that you caught a STD
While having a one night stand
Is totally unexpected and unbelievable
You'll wonder why this happened to you
You’ll fear the worse
But you’ll get control back
And live your life

In new  eyes
Both terrifying and unexpected
Things in your life
Shall always turn your life
Into something better
As you travel down that path..

how refreshing, an optimistic and reassuing poem. I like this a lot, written well with for once an inspiring message that people should follow. i cant really think of anything at the moment that could use any improvement in this so good job.

Right off the bat... love the title and the picture. As for this piece, excellently written and you have expressed it with such powerful emotions. I enjoyed the style and flow of this poem, and the realistic issues discussed that so many of us experience... I can actually relate to some of the issues mentioned from a different perspective... I've had an STD scare once along with an ex girlfriend pregnancy scare.. wow looking back at it, perhaps karma is catching up with me... if this is the case though, I've got a lot of good to look forward to as well. Sorry I digress, great piece of writing. Thank you for sharing. --Broken Soul

Emotionally creative thought and idea for such topic. Life indeed contains unexpected surprise for the unbelievable truth. Through this poem, I think I could see more than just pregnancy, disease, and life. It's more than how a person should appreciate the unexpected and the unbelievable a life could offer. Also, to live a life carefully and wisely before taking each step at a time. Really a wonderful write.

good write... very personal especially after reading that it's not of a personal experience; good to know for it's a difficult event to experience.

6th line edit ... freightening to frightening??
7th line edit ... theirs to there's or there is??
10th line edit ... need to be fed and cared for ???
Just the english teacher gene coming thru... Enjoyed the poem... keep on writing!!

Well first off, there's some spelling and grammar issues here and there so you might want to revise this.

But otherwise I think you really express the message well. It's an interesting piece, a breathe of fresh air about the topic of unexpected pregnancies. I like how you describe the child as a flower growing, a beautiful picture. Good piece, keep it up!
