Love is Like a Flower in Bloom: It�s Ugly.

The other day I sat at the bank of our river,

the river that held our precious memories of love and passion.

I watched pretty flowers, blue and pink, arrive in pairs dancing down the strong current.

They danced around each other,

Staying close and not letting go…

Then slowly they would break apart,

Some coming clean,

Others were ripping petals away.

Some would fall to the heavy feeling of the current without the support of the other.

Others would drift to single flowers and dance with each other until they were gone from my sight.

That’s how it is with people isn’t it?

They mingle with love and passion and then they separate,

some more damaging than others.

And when that happens

Sometimes it’s easier to just disappear instead of dealing with the pain…

And when the other is gone

They just find another’s arms to be held in.

Some flowers were so torn up,

all the petals were missing…

Does that mean love strips your of something?

Something important?

It takes away so many things: trust, love, kindness…

Would it just be better to grow as a lone flower?

Away from the passion of tangled thorns and bushes?

I would have thought not… but it seems like our flowers are slipping away from each other…

Some forceful current is stealing you away…

Or maybe the numbness of the water is making me delusional.

Maybe I’m imagining our growing apart.

Either way it’s tearing my petals away one by one.

The thought of losing you is making me sink beneath the frigid water.

I can’t take it…

Am I really losing you?

Are you really slipping away?

Is there some other pretty flower stealing you away,

snuffing me out of existence with its thorns tearing at the flesh of my throat?

Please tell me that none of this is true.

Please

Tell me that you still love me…

Please…
