Leavin' Pencey

Leavin' Pencey

A Poem by ShortBreadInc

See what I tried to do, right,
is pack up and leave tonight.
Leave their s**t on the subway -
Got an excuse to runaway.

Fucked up - blew smoke in a nuns face.
Settle down - end up in the wrong place.
Coffee black, grilled cheese to go.
Where the geese end up, nobody knows.

I'm making friends with cabbies,
making foes with w****s,
Her pimps a little edgy:
Takes the piss of course.

Cocktails and cigarettes,
jazz musicians and blues,
getting hit on by teachers:
What's a girl to do.

But I'm not talking about me,
it's that boy from The Libertines:
Hipster, cool kid and wannabe,
Fresh out of Pistol City.
