Jealous Yesterday

Jealous Yesterday

A Poem by Kristallo

I can't erase your sorry eyes

that crashed like waves on the shores of

my bleached sense of solitude

Over the ocean, tugging on the moon

a steely veil of ash and gloom

that shine like tranquil rain

weeping down the trap of an artist's window.

Red velvet lips kill another cigarette,

as dreams dance like lithely ballerinas

across these somber pages, I wrote

of latin jazz and macchiatos

Sipping history with a primal tongue

Lost myself again in the honey words

of your aristocrasy. Promises to use your love

To take my pain away. I wrote

About memories burning away,

fading in and out like a jealous yesterday.

This was tart and loose and swung like a heavy iron fist.

Over the ocean, tugging on the moon
a steely veil of ash and gloom
that shine like tranquil rain
weeping down the trap of an artist's window.

These stunning visuals in an abstract word tract have consumed me. You are one talented poet, and easy to understand...your from Texas.

Thank you for your gracious words. I'm humbled. :)
This feels like a David Lynch film mixed with a Degas mixed with a dark and quiet independent coffee house where the old leather chairs are worn out, the best to sit on. Where you can actually get poetry out without typical auras perturbing your creative flow.

'weeping down the trap of an artist's window.'

This sparked so many scenes from your one description. This had so many implications visually.. it's stunning the way you phrased that. There is something so timeless here... displayed in a modern framework where all of the best pieces have been fished out of the endless stream of newness to sprinkle now into then. It's so hard to find the beauty of this age sometimes, but you really have an eye for picking out the spectacular and stitching it in seamlessly.

I love those three lines!

History, it's ironic how we vow to never repeat it. But when we we truly miss someone, we do seem to linger onto yesterday like a jealous lover than cannot let go. I think the title is clever. What is macchiato? lol I could not help but read the comment below...not everybody is a coffee nut. But that's okay, they don't need to taste it to truly understand it. A great write indeed. :)))
