Slow This Earth Down

Slow This Earth Down

A Poem by John F

As time goes on, I tend to want less.
Less noise, less possession, less desire.
To practice more things that bring me to the
present moment, and just slow down.

Let the world spin more gently.
Plant seeds all the way to harvest,
And interplant memories and tears in the garden
we share in our hearts, until a quiet space unfolds
Where love and hope can take root, and dreams reseed.

It may take years to build up our own soil again.
To remove all the noxious weeds that choke out our hearts,
To give us the space we need to grow
And find the peace that comes from living fully.

Being in the present moment is most important. For that is really all there really is.

Thank you, John. Spending more time in the present moment is never ever a bad decision
You have some great metaphors in this, John. I've noticed from other poems you're a positive thinker. Nice writing here.

Thank you, Relic! I try to be a positive thinker but darkness does creep in now and again!
At my age, I just kind of let the garden alone. Yes, weeds do grow but some flowers sustain life for an old man that has some pretty poignant blooms every so often.

You very often have poignant blooms, my friend. Your poetry is indeed a gift every time it flowers. .. read more
