Across the Horizon

Across the Horizon

A Poem by John F

As we fall across the horizon
Our eyes will close,
All language will
Be cut from our mouths.
All written laws
And unspoken rules
Will be set aside.
All gods and prophets
Reduced to dust.
All latitudes and longitudes
retuned to nowhere.
All scientific discovery
And empirical evidence
Brought to bear,
As all memories fade
To just random colours,
Then random colours
Reduce to white noise,
And this moment will
Mean nothing,
Absolutely nothing at all.

This almost sounds like the experience of death to me. Where everything will disappear.

I've done it myself in poems from the past.
