Small Earthquake

Small Earthquake

A Poem by John F

We were cosmically
Drawn together
Through electricity.

That’s what I feel
When we kiss,
In dreams connecting us
With sparks of light.

We keep finding
The space where
We can come together,
Because the nature of love
demands it.

Nothing can touch us there
In the right nor wrong places.

Before we met we were trapped
Like butterflies beneath bell jars,
Inside ourselves,
like understudies to our own lives.

Never realising that fate allows
For deviation from the set path,
If the agent is well motivated.

So if you are the one pushing
Let me fall into your Turkish eyes
Like dark infinity pools.

I won’t try to translate
Your balmy camel thoughts
Into our shared language again.

Though I will drown happily
In the private flood of your desire,
As protests and carnivals
Hurry along outside your room.

If you wake up tonight
To a small earthquake,
Don’t be scared,
It’s not the apocalypse.

It’s just me writing
Another song for you,
Through another endless night.
