If You Need Me to Disappear

If You Need Me to Disappear

A Poem by John F

If you need me to disappear
Take these green gifts from me,
And I will stay quiet for a while
In your gallery of secrets.

I know it was my fault your heart
Was pricked by a thousand cactuses.
I’ve learned you love to touch them
and take care of them,
And in exchange they choose words
for your perfectly greige poems.

So please pull back
your curtains again, baby,
And let an invasion of light
flood back into your heart.
Together, we can count
all the thorns under your skin,
And watch as your body
Moves to throw them away.
Or we can let them sink
into me instead,
So we can learn how
to heal as one again.

With you, all my sins are not counted,
So we have no need to worry
About snakes and their arbitrary hisses.
We can break into each others’ hearts,
If you really need to break something
To remove the vaguely dark energy
They’ve slithered between us.

We can learn how to heal
the smaller cracks with
clear nail polish,
As you prepare Turkish coffee
For your next fortune telling.
You can manifest some
Good things for us,
And we can figure out
How to heal our
More complex wounds together
With imperfect blue poetry
And accidental spell casts.

Not sure what to say about this poem other than wow!
Great words, deeply felt emotional lines and this evokes such a vivid imagery...

the use of cactus and the green spikes of nature to connect two individuals...
I like this poem and the individual lines

As you prepare our Turkish coffee.....And we can figure out how to heal our more complex wounds together..

Feel free to stop by and check out my poems..
