Embraced in Sleep

Embraced in Sleep

A Poem by Siddartha Beth Pierce

You came to me it seems

upon the wings of dreams

dressed me in finery

of sparkling ruby Red

placed diamonds upon my lashes

had me gaze into my own visage

a beautiful mirage.

Then walked me to an ancient typewriter

asked me to play out a tune

just one key I chose

the letter 'Y' - I do not know why though

perhaps I wondered why you were

haunting my sleep

protecting me, I pondered

then I awoke unfortunately

the warmth that I felt in my dreamy sleep

melted away with you in tow.

Later, I dreamt we were making love

as if it had happened for eons

as if we were meant to be

for an eternity

as we rolled over in sweet exotic bliss

you changed into another man

I was shocked, frightened

pushed you away

yet you said, 'It is still me my love,

just dressed in an age beyond the one

you are used to seeing'.

Who is this man then

that follows me in sleep

loves me endearingly

through the ages it seems

you have watched over me

although we have never met

in what one calls reality.

I can't help feeling that

I love you too

as your fragrance fills the air

of my bedchamber

as my eyes drift off to sleep

you come to me again

reuniting two souls

one existing perhaps on another plane

yet, my love for you remains

during those waking hours

when the days toil takes over

and still I feel you near

my Angel awaiting my return

when my dreams reunite

us as One

a perfect union, harmony

he and I embraced in sleep

once more.

Totally fascinating poetry. I find dreams so difficult to relate to anyone else as I have an idea but end up making up so much from my current thoughts. This though floats sleepily through from beginning to end making the visions you create appear perfect romantic figments of a fantasy world.

I love the imagery and scenes that unfolds in my mind's eye. I can see all that is taking place and smell the air that swarms and fills the room. The depth of your descriptions really brings me into a place of feeling comfort and unsure or uneasy. The way you talk about having something that is only a dream but a reality that you both wish and desire. Clarity of the soul and heart taking place in a moment that will some how live long beyond the dream. I really loved this.

Great Job!!!!!!!
