We Danced the Color

We Danced the Color

A Poem by Siddartha Beth Pierce

We danced the color

green today

amidst the grass, the hay

within the cornfields

Oh so tall

with a dear kiss

this spectacle

was sealed.

We danced the color

orange today

amidst the crimson leaves

of fall

as the wind kicked up

a mighty gale

you touched me deeply

but with tenderness

as I am often frail.

We danced the color

black today

amidst the night sky

below the shining, shooting stars

below the planet Mars

below Orion and his belt

below the Milky Way

you wrapped your arms about me

as I wished to be nowhere

else.

We danced the color

white today

amidst the cold snowflakes

that fell about our faces

in kind, warm embraces

making angels on the ground

building towers of men around

wrapped in scarves

with coal eyes, carrot noses

you made love to me there

with your endearing stare

from eye to eye

and it was perfect enough

to satisfy any craving

that did I have

at any moment in time,

we danced.

wonderful, i can see why you won second place (i won a close 3rd. hee hee) great imagrey, and I love the idea you took with the different colors, and expounded on that. simple, yet very unique at the same time. And at the end when you talk about making love in the snowy atmosphere...oh...that's amazing. well, thanks for taking me on a colorful trip and back.

I like this one too. You put two of my favorite things together, dancing and colors. It's a beautiful poem. It makes me feel like I'm there. And I almost feel guilty for spying on these lovers. A lovely read. I truly enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing.

That touched my heart deeper than I thought a poem could. I pictured my love and I doing that and wow...so beautiful! I absolutely love this poem

If your sculptures are anything like your poetry, you give the world a gift. You have the ability to create pictures for the reader. I know we should be giving you strong critiques but you make it very hard by posting such good work. I promise if I see something I will point it out and my comments are more than just blowing wind up your skirt.

Very nice work!

Beautiful! It looks like it's in free-form, and you probably wrote it that way, but I was picking up a small rhythm that I really liked. The subject is great, and I liked the second stanza in particular. It created a universal, "galactic" feeling in my mind. Excellent job!

Wow, I wish I could feel this love like you do. This is very good, and I like colors. This poem reminds me that nature and seasons revolve around us to experiance them. We should embrace what we have, and use them in ways we were ment to by Gaia, Mother Nature. Very good, thank you for telling us about this tale.

A delightful read, and it was put together very nicely. It seemed as if it was penned with a smile. I really enjoyed this read, and loved how the color was provided with a action. Paints a picture with the first few lines, a seasonal dance.

hmmm where to start brilliant indeed Im not sure how many others caught that each stanza is longer than the previous giving the poem almost a gentle drum roll effect. Not sure if intended but the longer stanza portrayed maybe a little favoritism for the color seeing as how its more descriptive the imagery and flow played well to the message. Everything well put together best piece i read all night.
