Down

Down

A Poem by Sierra Erway

She sits alone, in her dark room; sad as she's ever been.

Her dad is gone.

Mom's away.

Alone, all day; everyday.

She thinks a while, and makes up her mind.

"Not yet" she says "But soon"

And with a gentle, soft-lipped frown,

She watched the raindrops;

Pouring down.

Hours pass by, without a sound, and she sits staring out.

She makes a move, and walks away

from that window, on her last day.

She slowly walks and sings along

to the sad songs she put on.

To the bathroom, to grab the blade,

And on the floor is where she lays.

The blade is sharp, and thin, and cold.

She cuts out the lies that she's been told.

The hurt.

The pain.

From all the days that she sat there alone.

She makes the cut where no-one sees;

And from her skin, she silently bleeds.

She watches, with that soft-lipped frown

As,

to the floor,

the blood drips down.

She lays still, silent as can be.

"No-one here...No-one but me..."

The cuts are deep,

the blood runs thick.

No more inside does she feel sick.

Laying,

Dying,

with no-one around,

Her soft-lipped frown turns around.

And quietly, she starts to drown

In all the tears

slippiing down... down...

Down.
