Midnight Sky

Midnight Sky

A Poem by Madeline

Of all the sky's it is the midnight one which knows me the best.
For its minds eye carries the burning image of a young girls tear streaked face staring up into it's vast expanses.
It knows best the east window opened, and holds silently the girl slipping out of it,
Escaping troubles into its depths.
It took her in when there was for her not a hand yet to hold, a single word to trust.
Generously repaid was it with her own images of universes held behind nights dark veil.
Galaxies seen, and those not quite, stretched and painted with a passionate, longing eye;
One whose stories held their deepest desire of escape.
Escape into the velvet night which held her so dear.

A beautiful poem about the beautiful night. Many people fear the night, but a few have discovered its sheltering, comforting embrace. Delightful inspiration, dear poet.
