To All The Hearts I've Broken

To All The Hearts I've Broken

A Poem by Madeline

Here's to all the hearts I've broken,

If any there's at all.

I hope to you I've left a lesson,

Not only just scored walls.

That you learned a smiling face

Doesn't always mean a friend.

That to every story written

There won't always be an easy end.

Remember that a scratch will make a callous,

Then from callous stronger skin.

Every heart that wins you over,

You will not always win.

Love is too potent to be wasted,

Mine's splashed in many vials.

But know that each and every life you meet,

Will come with their own trials.

So be selfish with your affection,

Hold your love in high regards.

Wait for the one who loves you deeply enough,

That with their life your heart they'll guard.
