We Used To Be A Family

We Used To Be A Family

A Poem by Silas

I miss how things used to be.
Before 7th grade when everything changed,
When you were still there for me.
You used to be the coolest ever.
I looked up to you.
You were my role model.
I would always be so happy when people said I looked just like you.
But then you started to change, as did us all I guess.
You shut us out.
You left us behind.
You left me behind.
I would tell you everything,
And after dinner every night we would wrestle until I couldn't win.
I would watch the same shows as you and even the same music.
Anything I could to be just like you.
I wanted to grow up and be just like you.
But that isn't the same anymore.
Every things different.
You're never here.
And when you are you don't even care.
I used to call you Dad,
But it just doesn't feel right anymore.

Heart felt and nicely written. ..As I was reading, thoughts of my "best friend" from forever popped into my head.. and how things just, well..changed..
When I reached the end of your poem and saw that it was a father figure instead, it moved me even more.. great work :)
