Remember that Day

Remember that Day

A Poem by SilverWolf
"

A memorial poem about someone who lost there love before they knew they loved them.

"
Remember that day, so long ago,
In which we saw the great and terrible crow,
It cawed loudly,
As if to tell us sorry,
For the losses we would face.
Or to put us in disgrace.
And, oh, you can't remember the day,
That I didn't listen to you say,
The truth of your feelings for me,
All because I didn't want them to be.
Now I realize,
And I feel paralyzed,
That the reason I didn't let you say those three fateful words,
As we listened to the sound of songbirds,
Is that I was scared of the feeling.
The one that left me reeling.
And how I regret that day,
And if I had my way,
I redo time and time again,
So that our love could finally win.
And I am glad you don't remember that time,
When I didn't let you speak that fateful line.
You can't remember the day,
When all the world turned grey.
You were walking down the street,
Such an ordinary feat.
But the driver must have thought differently,
And as as you passed the Abbey,
A sacred place,
One in which even driving is a disgrace,
You were hit by a car,
It didn't even leave you a scar.
Only one upon my heart,
As my whole world, came apart.
Remember the day, not all that long ago,
In which we saw the terrible crow,
I joked that it twas a sign,
That someone would soon be wrapped in a shrine.
We chatted and laughed that day,
not knowing the way,
That all would change for the worse,
And now I see it for what it was: A curse.
One that's far worse, than just a random someone dying,
And here I lay crying,
But it's years after the act,
And just now I recognize the fact.
That I loved you too,
I that our love was true.
Never again shall we play,
Or splash about in the green-blue bay.
We shan't grow old together,
Nor shall we weather,
The good times and the bad.
And the rest of my life shall be sad.
For you lie dead, in the cold hard ground.
Never again shall you make a sound.
And you can't remember, that day, the one so long ago,
On which we heard a crow.
Now I have one last thing to say,
Something I should have said that day,
For it's time to let you go,
And I have to let you know,
The thing that should have been said that day, as I just sat their denying, and let you die.
Goodbye
