Cracked Ice

Cracked Ice

A Poem by Silverwolf
"

A poem about a broken heart.

"

Cracked Ice

My blue eyes have frozen over

Turning into dull marbles

Set in a frost bitten face

Waiting for the warmth of day

Limbs void of motion

Due to the blood stopped cold in my veins

Skin ice blue and cold

Where your lips once laid

My lungs have eternally waited

For a chilling breath that never comes

With a hail of tears

Permanently rolling down my face

My heart no longer pumps

That life giving liquid

My mind no longer thinks

About the thoughts that once flew through the sky that now lay with shattered wings

I’m cold

Here in this blazing desert

Lacking the strength to even shiver

Or to ask for the help of others

My heart once strong and warm

Stands still in my chest

Delicate as glass and freezer burnt

Filled with lines spread like your spider’s web, just like cracked ice
