Reaching HigherA Poem by Simon J HallidayToday's poem
Reaching Higher
When you want to reach up higher Beware the flame of your desire For burning, perhaps, may be your soul And passion might betray your goal The things around may not seem right Each day a strange and senseless fight And in the midst of such distress The distant light shines, nonetheless Keep fixed then on the end you seek For this world won't look for the meek A gentle friend, perhaps, here and there But few the ones who truly care Guard well each moment, listen hard So well disguised, the losing card And yet beyond life's fruitless games Exists true value, fan those flames Ignoring now the wasteful throng Emerging with a different song Remaining gentle, also strong Reaching higher will not be wrong (c) Simon J.
