Jonhny's Only Wish

A poetic Christmas story!

A 5^th grade teacher in the projects assigned her students this...

To make a wish list for Santa, before Christmas

Her plan was to read them and wrap one gift from each of their list to give

She was well aware of their family's hardship's, how most of their parents struggled just to live

She read them each and came up with quite a list

Until she read Johnny's who asked for this...

Dear Santa,

I know I've been a good boy this year and my mommy she also agrees

I help her, do all my school work, and say my prayers each night, down on my knees

Please keep the trains, bat, balls, toys and trucks

Things like that no longer mean so much

What I'd really like this year is my daddy brought back

I know you can find him Santa, he's a pilot who's been stationed in Iraq

His name is Bob and he's flying planes at battle for our freedom here

Can you please fly him back in your chauffeured sled, by your 8 Reindeer

So when I awake early on Christmas morn

I can find him sleeping next to me, all safe and warm

This is the only thing that I'm asking for on my wish list

Oh, please Santa please, can you just grant me this?

The teachers eyes quickly puddled up with tears

Why she had never read a list like Johnny's in all her years

She struggled with thoughts of what she could do

To make Johnny's one and only wish come true

So she called his mother and told her what she had read

Because she knew she could never figure this one out in her head

When to her amazement Johnny's mother sobbed , than politely laughed

It's funny you should call me right now, and how kind you should ask

I just received a phone call from Bob, and I was so exited when I heard him say

He's coming home for good now, and he'll be arriving back Christmas Eve Day

So your worries are over Mrs. Cooper, Johnny now has now been granted his wish

And thank you once again for your kindhearted concerns, but I can now assure you this

I believe that God answered Johnny's one and only prayer from his Prayer List

Because I'm certain that Santa cannot perform such a miracle so beautiful as this
