After All Life's Like That!

A poem about life and its quirky side....just after getting one's license and wondering why!

                        After All Life's Like That!
    
 To the left and to the right.
The b******s don't give a damn 'cause they
    think you've got hindsight.

My eyes are permanently rotating 360 degrees.
    That's to say nothing, of the latter state
of me knees.

    As the crescendos in the back seat reach
a feverishly high pitch.
    I'm wondering if I should dump the dear siblings
into the nearest ditch!

Dodging in and out of the traffic,
    all the while cursing under my breath.
Hoping my tongue doesn't end up psychedelic
    and my nerves don't cause an early death.

Sanity prevailing, not my opinion entirely,
    for the moment anyway.
Meanwhile, narrowly missing two dogs and the local postie,
    I'm wondering how the hell,
 I'm going to get through the rest of the day.

    These things are enough to drive the best of us
right to the very brink.
    Especially since it's only ten o'clock
and anyone'll tell ya,
 that's definitely an indecent hour to drink!
