A Line

A Line

A Poem by Merle Van Dee

a line
   a line
     what is a line?
       a few frivolous
     poisonous
   words spewing from my mouth
or an imagined yet uncanny object
for my uncouth mind to fly over.
the quill is mightier than the sword
for I dip it in my own blood
     to write my heart's
   deepest
darkest
   desires
like embers burning in a fire
       and then I sell them,
     to you,
   my loyal liars.
