A Long-lost Lover

A Long-lost Lover

A Poem by Merle Van Dee

I search for you,
   Out on these trails
Where we first met.
   Stars aligned
     Passionate touch
Just shy of love's first kiss.
I don't expect to see you though
These trails remain barren and cold.
Your smile no longer lighting the way
      The trees sway slower,
        Streams run quiet.
Don't worry though,
   I'll find my way.
     You keep that light bright
   Illuminating another lover's path
And please..
          Stay safe

Yours Truly,
   A long-lost lover
