Comet Dust

Comet Dust

A Poem by Merle Van Dee

Passion over distance
   Liquid drops
     Heartbeat stops
   Foolishness I know,
This I do not.
   Angelic stardust
     Against her pale skin
   Comets shoot
Through liquid green eyes.
   Black holes in places
Only me and her devils know.
   Not oft is the sinner
Called to save a saint,
   Demons misunderstood
     Still try to do good.
   Sometimes the heroes
Hoist up darkened flags
   Darkened brows
     Darkened souls;
And in those places the light
Shines brighter than before.
For tis' nothing but comet dust
     Against the black holes
       Of the soul.
