A Dismal Life of Color

A Dismal Life of Color

A Poem by Merle Van Dee

This dismal life of color
In which we weave our lies of wonder.
I'd teach you
What the many hues
Preached in my slumber,
But I'm told
My story's old
I'm outdated and outnumbered.
You'd rather hear my lullabies
Sad natured, filled with hatred.
Drag out skeletons
From closets long closed and forgot.
So without further ado
I plead my case:
Forget me and my ways
My poems and rhymes
Sing me no more praise
Bury me with my skeletons
From glory days.

This poem has a good obervation of how people seem to latch on the next big thing that follows one tragedy to the next instead of painting life with beauty instead. At least that's what I observed.

This poem has a very nice flow to it. I love it when a poet expresses strong concepts while still maintaining an almost melodious rhythm. Keep up the great work.
