Stars and Galaxies

Stars and Galaxies

A Poem by Merle Van Dee

Stars and galaxies set deep in her eyes
The cosmos found in her soul.
The hear of her touch; an unforgettable blush.
Is that why you read this, for fantasy eyes and mythical lies?
Loves isn't found up in space.
It is found here, in this place.
Her eyes don't twinkle or shine.
But burn with the fire of a lifetime of moments lived in the here and now.
The expanse of her soul isn't immeasurable.
She measures it herself in the ways she spends her time.
Buying moment after moment with fools, knaves, and the wise.
True love for her takes a lifetime to show.
It must be all-encompassing; loving her spirit mind, and soul.
It is waking up at 3 A.M. to meet her for breakfast at 7, three states over.
Being more worried about her, rather than just trying to score.
It's knowing her schedule better than yours, and just how she likes her coffee.
Being late for the second time this week, just so you don't leave her in her sleep.
Love is burning holes in the pocket of your time, wasting it all on her.
For you know in the end, she was always from space.
And you're both just stuck in this place, where here and now meet.
Just like life and love can only be summed up by the fireworks seen,
In the eyes of the soul,
Wherever and whenever
Two pairs of lips meet.
