Who are we, but subservient fools

Guided by rusted cliché’s

Following an obscure vision

Of a future handed down

By those who walked the same path before

The death of inspiration

Its cries are still resonant

Resurfacing with every clink of the chain

Forged by our own hands

Upon our minds and souls

Darkened and dismayed

Curbing the voracious wants

Will the destiny be ever attained

 

A false impression of failure

Decimated scores of originals

What remained

Were the same blind men

With different faces

But the same emptiness

Clutching their existence

Propelling them on the same circular path

Feeding their greed of a ravishing reward

At the end of their journey

A deeply imprinted impression

Of something that was never to be

With borrowed thoughts

Trudging along the same worn road

Unaware of an impending time

Of eclipsed humanity

Of shared identity

Of no originality

 

Dare to dream

Dream of walking down an unknown path

Think of the possibilities cradled in future’s arms

Strive for singularity

Create an independent self

Be someone who has never been before

Be the one you dream to be

Author's Note

I was told by someone that my earlier piece ' Enchanting Destruction of Self' was traditional. Here, I've tried to be a different with my approach to the matter. What do you think?

A powerful ending to a powerful poem. I loved it.

Many time material things become more important than the actual dream or what is really important in life. Many times we get overloaded with how the world is and feel depressed or like we aren't getting where in this life, like we aren't being full filled with the real things we need.
