An Enticing Escape

An Enticing Escape

I know your song, unspoken, unsung

But the echoes fill the careless whispers of the night

A torn world sighs and groans

With every breath, is born, a silent prayer

To retreat into the gates of Paradise

And rebuild perfection once again

Held back, I look upon your inviting embrace

And vague vows to heal and renew

A vision of a state sublime

I know your song, unspoken, unsung

Your seductive mockery

Of a life that is mine only in the name

The picture was the prompt. The connection is a bit hazy and since I have been reading a lot of Milton (and his contemporaries) lately, I think my poem feels a bit out of place and out of time, haha. :)

Hope you like it.

We must be brave and reach for great dreams. Life is to be lived. A strong ending to a excellent poem.

An interesting, descriptive write. I see Milton in this too.

The opening stanza flows meliflously. Temptation resisted is the true measure of character. A seductive siren call, that one for yet another chalice of perfection. None are what we think we have. You artfully ponder a fundamental sentience question. Milton loves this. He remains 'midst the few ethereal authors to pen a word in English. "...My Late Espoused Saint" reigns as divinely worded ambrosia. This piece is your best work. Well done.

haha nice one! Questions which may have innumerable answers or excuses are raised simply by stating a kind structure of imaginative power!
