Corroded Souls

Corroded Souls

A Poem by Enigma

Sometimes I do imagine,

What it would be like,

To clamp your mouth shut,

Just before you speak your first accursed word.

Will the poison of your words corrode you?

Or will the honeyed chain of guilt-less nonsense,

Ease up your pain?

Will the indirect accusations,

And endless expectations,

Prick your mind until,

You claw out your brain?

Or will the plain truth hurt,

As much as it does,

In my mind, right now?

The acid you spew forth,

You monsters in disguise!

One day, I will burn you

In your own hell.

A lot of anger and a lot of emotion towards someone, I see. :) It's alright. I understand. People say things either because they're ignorant and think they're better, it slips on accident, or they're old people and they can get away with saying "the truth". Either way, this poem was very well done. I loved the imagery and the intense anger. (Something new to read for me). J'adore!

Beautifully done. It so fits with how I am feeling at the moment. It truly does sum up the whole...whatever I am going through. Some times people say things to get you interested in them, charm you so you are willing to give something up and once you are lured in the deceptive web you are hooked on smooth talk and just hoping this person is special but then it turns out that this person has told many others the same lovely things he said to you and...your world shatters. Your heart breaks.

Venting is always a nice release and makes for lovely work besides, in this case.

Vision of pain and torture was alive and well in this poem. I like the directness and strength in the desire and goal of this poem. A very good ending to a excellent poem.

There are moments when the art of selective hearing is a virtue...When words become toxic to the soul they become controlling of the moment. This comes from dark and frustrating emotions but it is well said and hopefully healing will begin. There's not a thing in the world wrong with "shut the hell up" Words can be toxic in clean air...
